Time: 11:00 AM Worship Service with communion

After the Service (around 12:00 PM): Light lunch and church coffee in the fellowship hall

Church Open: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Accessible Parking: Available inside the church yard for familys with small children and handicap. Call the number posted on the gate acess on S. Palos Verde Dr. for entry.

Background / Context

  • The church was founded by Swedish immigrants, and over time has served a multilingual congregation in the area. 

  • The building on Burlington (the one standing now) was constructed in 1925 in an English-influenced Gothic Revival style. Church of Sweden, Los Angeles+1

  • It has historical significance in local immigrant and social justice work (offering language classes, emergency aid, etc.).

  • Sunday October 12th /Fall Market in VASA Park 

     Event Overview

    • The Fall Market is part of the Scandinavian Autumn Fest / Höstmarknad held at Vasa Park

    • It includes a market of Scandinavian vendors and artisans, folk music, dancing, and also a Swedish Meatball Contest

    • The day’s activities also often include kid-friendly things: swimming or water attractions (if open), slides, bounce houses, gem mining, games, contests (pie-eating etc.), and demonstrations of Scandinavian or Viking traditions.

    • The event typically starts with breakfast at 9:00 a.m., the opening ceremony around 10:00 a.m., and the meatball contest at 12:00 noon.
