Svenska Kyrkan i Los Angeles har haft sitt hem i Norska Sjömanskyrkan i San Pedro sedan 1952.
Här har kyrkan sitt kontor.
Men vi har också träffpunkter på flera andra platser,
för närvarande i Orange county, Downtown L.A. , Thousand Oaks och San Diego.
Vi samarbetar med flera kyrkor och organisationer runt om i södra Kalifornien.
I San Pedro träffas vi första söndagen varje månad för Gudstjänst kl. 11.00
Vi håller även öppet Fredagar 9.30-16.00

Thousand Oaks - tredje söndagen i månaden kl. 14.30 i Holy Trinity Lutheran Church
Orange county - tredje lördagen i månaden kl. 17.00 i Lutheran Church of the Master, Corona Del Mar.
San Diego - en gång per kvartal kl. 10.30 i House of Sweden, Balboa Park.
Downtown L.A. - Vid särskilda tillfällen i Angelica Lutheran Church.

Locations and Service Schedule:
San Pedro: Our so called "home" church for the Swedish Church in Los Angeles.
Services are held the first Sunday of each month at 11:00 AM.
Open every Friday from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. See our calender for more details.
Expanding Services: Thousand Oaks: Service third Sunday of each month at 2:30 PM.
Orange County: Service on the third Saturday of each month at 5:00 PM.
San Diego: Services held quarterly, with possible changes—please check ahead for updates.
Mission: Our goal is to establish more regular meeting points across Southern California, considering the large distances. The church is focusing on meeting people in Santa Barbara County, Los Angeles County, Ventura County, Orange County, San Diego County, and Riverside County.
Connection and Engagement: The church is actively working on building a sense of swedish community and connection throughout Southern California, making sure to reach out to different areas and meet the needs of our swedish congregation in these diverse locations. This is a great way to ensure that the Swedish Lutheran community in Southern California has accessible and regular worship opportunities!

Sedan 1950-talet har den haft sitt hem i Norska Sjömanskyrkan i San Pedro.
Kyrkan har alltid varit en trygg punkt för många svenskar i södra Kalifornien.
Här vill vi bygga en inkluderande, glädjebringande, öppen, generations-överskridande och meningsfull verksamhet.

Our Swedish History with Angelica Lutheran Church.
On February 12, 1888, Pastor Johannes Telleen of the Augustana Lutheran Synod met with 29 other Swedish immigrants to found Angelica Lutheran Church. That first outpost of Swedish Lutheranism in Southern California was erected on 10th and Grand Street, and the second location was close by, on Hope and 17th. The current church on Burlington Avenue was built in 1925 in the style of the English-influenced Gothic revival, with stained glass windows from a Los Angeles art studio and the "Last Supper" in the chancel area carved in Germany. Located within the original 1781 Pueblo de Los Angeles borders, the area was known as the Westlake District, a suburb popular with European immigrants with streetcar access to downtown. At the same time, Mexican American immigrants were settling in a growing Los Angeles and what had been a suburb became an urban center. Now known as Pico Union, the area is a culturally rich merging of Central and South American, European, Cuban, and Asian populations. In 1962 the Augustana Lutheran Synod merged with the Lutheran Church in America, which in its turn merged with other Lutheran bodies to become the ELCA in 1988. In the 1980s, Angelica became central to the LA Sanctuary Movement, offering citizenship and English classes as well as housing, and in the aftermath of the 1992 civil unrest in Los Angeles, Angelica joined with five other LA-area ELCA Lutheran congregations (which expanded to seven) to form New City Parish - a non-profit urban coalition working towards community transformation through holistic ministries and social outreach. Today Angelica offers cultural enrichment, early childhood support, emergency food and health services as well as the Word, which has been preached here in Swedish, Spanish, Korean, the indigenous languages of Central and South America, and English.

Har du en längtan efter att göra något meningsfullt? Vi söker alltid fler volontärer med olika typer av kompetens och intresseområden. Det finns pysselgrupper som träffas och tillverkar saker för våra marknader och event. På fredagar i San Pedro kyrkan träffas en grupp för de som vill laga mat och baka till våra gudstjänster och högtider. Vår stödgrupp hjälper till med tex att ringa eller besöka svenskar som är ensamma eller inte mår bra. Dem som behöver skjuts till att göra ärenden eller komma till gudstjänster. Hjälpa till med förberedelser och utförandet av gudstjänster med textläsning etc, stödja kyrkvärdarna. Ibland behövs det hjälp med administration och postutskick.

Volunteers needed! Do you have a longing to do something meaningful? There is always a need for volunteers with all types of skills, and areas of interest. We have a craft group that meets and creates decorations and seasonal items for our markets and events. Every Friday there is a group for those who want to cook and bake for our services and holidays. We have a support group that helps with all kinds of services to people in need.
